Our founder, Merritt Gibson, has experienced the music industry as an artist, businesswoman, and fan. After graduating from the University of Virginia, she moved to Nashville and joined the independent music scene as a singer-songwriter. There, she became intimately familiar with the problems faced by upcoming artists. As a financial analyst at Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman, Merritt conducted royalty examinations for top artists and certified releases as Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum for the RIAA. As a member of Gen Z, she has a natural affinity for social media and fandom culture - and has used it to identify the core problems in music listening today.

This past fall Merritt attended Berklee College of Music for their Global Entertainment and Music Business master's program in Spain. She withdrew to help take care of a family member after a major medical emergency. Now in Boston, Merritt is developing Scout. She will move to LA this summer to attend UCLA Law School.
